What does the application consist of?

The heart of the application is a Statement of Intent where you propose your project(s) for the Ranch Residency. This is a written statement with the option to attach images, sketches, etc.

Are their any requirements of residents during the residency?

The requirements of participating residents are:

1) You are at the Ranch Residency for the entire duration (August 14th - 21st)

2) You participate in the culminating pop-up exhibition

3) You install (on August 22nd and 23rd) and de-install (on August 24th) your work in the exhibition space

Beyond that, how you spend your time at the Ranch Residency is entirely up to you!

Is RR open to all artists?

Yes! We welcome artists over the age of 21 of all media to apply. Know that participation in the pop-up exhibition is required of all artists, regardless of media.

We are looking for artists who want the time and space to develop a particular project that they are unable to successfully complete in their regular lives.

How many artists will you accept?

We accept between 7-10 artists per session.

We will notify applicants in mid May, 2024.

How much does the Ranch Residency cost?

RR costs $100 per participating resident. This cost covers cleaning expenses, groceries for the Welcome and Farewell Dinners, and goes toward paying for our website.

How do I get there?

RR is located an hour North of Santa Fe. Residents are responsible for getting themselves, their groceries, and their materials there. We can help figure out transportation if flying from out of state.

Can I leave during the residency to go to town or go shopping?

We highly recommend that residents stay on the land during the entirety of the residency in order to be fully immersed in the experience. We encourage you to come prepared with all the food, material, clothing, sunscreen, etc. that you need.

What are the accommodations?

Residents stay in the seven casitas located on the Plaza of the Ranch Residency. Each casita comes with it’s own kitchen, bathroom, shower/bath, bed, living room, etc. A fully equipped home!

Residents share our renovated barn as a studio and are free to work in their casitas, outside, or in any other areas of the property.

There is no on site laundry. Wifi is available in the casitas and in the barn. Cell services is spotty but there is a landline available for use.
